2.Kevin Barona’s Classroom Guidelines and Consequences
    {Alls rules will be introduced on the first day of school}
-All rules will be communicated to the students, made into a big visual poster, as well as a typed list for each student to keep.
    o List of rules:
 Talking: No talking when I am giving instructions or developing a class discussion. Also, if there are announcements or anyone speaking over the intercom there will be no talking. If I have chosen a student to speak they are also the only one allowed to speak for that given moment. I will allow talking during group work, class discussion, and some individual work (Unless stated otherwise).
 There will be NO food, drinks (Unless it’s water), or edible items in my class. If brought to class, I will give students two choices: 1. Eat or drink outside my room; if bell rings and you are still outside you are tardy. 2. Thrown away.
 Preparation: You must come to class every day prepared! For example: Having your homework for the specific day. Bringing all of your materials to participate such as pencils/pens, books, journals, etc. Full engagement: NO SLEEPING, no head down, and no working on other things in my class.
 Use of Technology: You are only allowed to use your phones, IPads, iPods, etc. for school use only. I will give you directions on when you are allowed to use them, any other time I see them being used I will assume you are doing something you’re not supposed to. NO texting, talking on the phone, and/or getting on social media.
 Bathroom breaks: ONE AT A TIME! When you need to go to the bathroom I want you to raise your hand and give me the “Shaka” or “Hang-loose” hand gesture and I will nod my head for you to go. Make sure not forget the bathroom pass.
 Seating arrangements: THERE WILL BE A SEATING CHART! I will also change seating arrangements 2-3 times throughout the term. Students must always stay seated unless told otherwise.
 There will be NO foul language including sexual, drug, or offensive topics in my class! There will be NO fighting, calling each other names, and/or gossiping about another student. There will be NO cheating. We will treat each other as well as ourselves with respect.
 IF YOU CAN’T DO IT OUTSIDE MY CLASSROOM THEN YOU CAN’T DO IT IN MY CLASSROOM. (School procedures come first)
    {After thoroughly communicating rules to students, give students time to ask any appropriate questions for clarification. If no questions are asked I assume they understand all of their expectations}
-For students that don’t seem to understand their expectations in my class, this will have to lead to a one-on-one discussion. I will implement a change of ‘behavior plan’ sheet for students to fill out when their actions continue after the first mistake. It will be called the “Come On, Really?” sheet. They will fill out the sheet and give it to me. They will meet me after class to discuss their answers. We will discuss together if this needs to be something their parent needs to hear about. If a student continues to be given “Come on, Really?” sheets then parent will be contacted immediately without discussion. Office referrals may be the next option as well.
    “Come On, Really?”
    Name:
    1. What did you do wrong to receive this?
    2. Why did you do this?
    3. What will help you not do this again in the future?
    4. Do we need to call your parents? Why or why not?
    Don’t Forget To Meet
    Me After Class!!!
    • Consequences of rules:
o When caught talking when you aren’t allowed to:
o When caught eating/drinking in the class:
o When caught using technology when they’re not allowed to, and/or when caught doing something they’re not suppose to with their phones, iPads, etc.:
o When caught unprepared for class:
o When caught roaming around the classroom, and or not sitting in their own seat.
    o When caught gossiping
The First Time: The Second Time: The Third Time:
I will only verbally tell them to stop. For example: “You are not supposed to be talking during this time remember, please stop.” Student will then receive their warning. For example: “This is the second time I have to tell you to stop talking. This is your first and last warning.” Student will receive the “Come On, Really?” sheet to fill out and speak to me after class.
o When caught using foul language and/or calling another student a bad name:
 Student will immediately receive a first and last warning, and then if heard for a second time they will receive a “Come on, Really?” sheet.
    o When caught fighting:
 If caught hitting each other, those involved will be immediately escorted to the office.
 If caught in a verbal fight: I will try to squash anything that’s going on immediately, away from the other students. If continued then immediately sent to the office.
    o When caught cheating:
 Student will receive an incomplete for the grade as well as immediately receiving a “Come on, Really” sheet.
Documentation: I will keep all “Come on, Really?” sheets in a binder (Sectioning each student) to view for my own sake as well for parents viewing as well. This will help the parent get a better understanding of their child’s actions. Also, I will be able to view at any given time if a student has received multiple “Come on, Really” sheets.
Parental Contact: I will send an e-mail as well as a take home sheet for the students to give to their parents to discover the best communication method for the parent.

I believe most of my lessons, if not all, will be taught and learned by using hands-on activities. Science was definitely a struggle for me growing up because it was a lot of reading, work sheets, and copying definitions from the book. This obviously led to frustration with science because I have never been a learner by listening, I’ve always been a kinesthetic learner. This is how I plan to teach my students as well, learning by doing.
I plan on doing the most so every student will succeed in my class. I plan to accommodate or modify lessons for students according to their strengths and/or needs Again, at times I was that student that was behind because I simply didn’t understand. A few teachers just expected me to know. I’m setting high expectations for my students of course, but not expecting them to know everything I tell them or expecting them to be able to do some of the things I tell them. I will be flexible in lots of ways to help every student succeed at an equitable level.
I do like the concept of inquiry-learning. I plan on having my students do activities that have them investigate how to do something without my help. This will develop problem-solving and the understanding of the “struggle” if you will. I think all students need to develop this sense, because students need to understand not to quit so easily when something can be difficult. This will help aswell as to develop critical-thinking methods.
All assessment strategies will all be aligned with what I have taught. I will not pull any material from something I haven’t taught and try to “trick” my students. All assessments will be valid and reliable with regardto my objectives. Also, any information that will help guide my students to complete any assessment will be identified and easily accessed for student use.

    Domain Goal Reflection

Domain Goal 1: This term, I will create an annotated bibliography in APA style of 10 things that a teacher can use as a resource for their students in their classroom.
I chose this goal because I wanted to learn about different resources for children use in the classroom. I know a few but I wanted to research more. This should be something all teachers need to grow a knowledge of to provide for their students.

Domain Goal 2: This term, I will create a formative assessment by designing a foldable that students could design themselves.
I decided to do this because I wanted a better sense of a simple formative assessment, as well as create one that can be for multiple uses. I created 25 “myPads” It looks like an iPad and is laminated for using all year round. The purpose is to have children use a dry-erase marker and answer informal questions during class discussions so I can view participation.

Domain Goal 3: This term, I will design a foldable and donate twenty-five to a school for a teacher to use in their class.
I decided to do this to have an idea of some things one can donate to schools for teachers. I also wanted to combine two goals. I am donating my 25 myPads.

Domain Goal 4: This term, I will integrate and assess one Technology TEKS in an untaught SS lesson plan.
I decided to do this to be able to look through the technology applications TEKS, and be able to get a better sense of how to incorporate them in different lessons. This helped me because I haven’t once looked through the technology applications TEKS. I as well as other upcoming educators need to demonstrate knowledge of technology because in no time that is all that we’ll be using.
